Drive Alert: A Conversation with Abegail Daleon

I’m Daisy Condeza a third-year IT student at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines. I had the opportunity to chat with Abegail Daleon, a bright and driven 19-year-old second-year Education student, about her thoughts on our project: “Reducing Accidents: Drive Alert’s Impact on Driver Behavior.” Abegail, who majors in Science Education and hails from Buntong Camaman an, shared her insightful perspective on the importance of addressing driver fatigue and distraction.

Abegail’s Perspective:

“I think your project is incredibly important,” Abegail shared. “We see so many accidents caused by driver fatigue and distraction, and it’s heartbreaking. It’s a problem that needs a solution, and Drive Alert seems like a promising approach.”

The Problem:

Abegail, like many of us, is acutely aware of the devastating consequences of road traffic accidents. She emphasized the need for proactive solutions to address the alarming number of accidents linked to driver inattentiveness. “It’s not just about the statistics,” she added, “it’s about the impact these accidents have on families and communities.”

Drive Alert: A Solution Our project, Drive Alert, is a mobile application designed to help drivers stay alert and focused on the road. It utilizes sensors and even eye movements. When the app detects potential risks, it sends alerts to the driver through visual and auditory cues, prompting them to take a break or refocus on the road.

Insight:

Abegail’s perspective as a future educator highlights the importance of using technology for social good. She recognizes the potential of my project to make a real difference in road safety and is eager to learn more about how it works. Her insights have been invaluable in shaping my project’s direction, and I’m grateful for her support.
